What is MDS Dental Counselling?

MDS (Master of Dental Surgery) is the postgraduate degree for BDS graduates seeking to specialise in a branch of dentistry. Admission to MDS courses across India is based on NEET MDS scores, followed by a centralised counselling process. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) manages All India Quota (AIQ) seats while respective State Dental Counselling Authorities handle state quota seats. RN Counselling provides complete end-to-end support — from rank analysis to final college reporting — so you can secure your best available MDS seat.

Step-by-Step MDS Counselling Process

1

Check Eligibility & Confirm Score

Verify your NEET MDS rank, score, and category. Confirm your BDS internship is complete and your DCI / State Dental Council registration is active.

2

Register on MCC Portal

Visit mcc.nic.in during the registration window. Provide your NEET MDS Roll Number, date of birth, and required personal details. Pay the non-refundable registration fee online (Government: ₹1,000 approx; Private: ₹5,000 approx).

3

Upload & Verify Documents

Submit all required scanned documents during the verification window. Documents must be clear, valid, and in the prescribed format. Errors at this stage can delay or cancel your allotment.

4

Choice Filling & Locking

Browse available MDS specialisations and dental colleges. Arrange your preferences in the most strategic order — this single step determines your final seat. Lock choices before the deadline; no changes are allowed after locking.

5

Seat Allotment Result

MCC publishes seat allotment results on the portal. Log in to view your allotted specialisation and college. Review carefully before deciding to accept, float (upgrade), or slide.

6

Accept Seat & Pay Security Deposit

Accept the allotted seat online and pay the security deposit within the stipulated time to hold your seat. Missing this deadline forfeits the allotment.

7

Report to the Allotted College

Physically report to the dental college with all original documents within the reporting window. Complete admission formalities, pay the full fees, and submit documents to complete enrolment.

8

Participate in Further Rounds (Optional)

If you want a better college or specialisation, participate in Round 2 or the Mop-Up Round. Accepting a new allotment automatically cancels your previous seat — plan carefully.
