Complete step-by-step guidance for MD and MS admissions — Eligibility, AIQ & State Quota, Rounds, Seat Matrix, Documents and more.
MD (Doctor of Medicine) and MS (Master of Surgery) are the two premier postgraduate medical degree programmes in India. Admission to these courses is purely merit-based through NEET PG scores, followed by a centralised counselling process conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for All India Quota (AIQ) seats and by respective State Counselling Authorities for state quota seats. RN Counselling provides end-to-end support to help you secure your best possible specialisation and college.
AIQ & Central Seats: MCC (mcc.nic.in)
State Quota: Respective State Counselling Authority
52,000+ MD/MS seats across government & private medical colleges in India. Includes AIQ, State Quota, Management & NRI quota.
MD / MS degree: 3 Years
PG Diploma: 2 Years
Note: MCC conducts counselling in multiple rounds. Candidates can participate in AIQ counselling and state counselling simultaneously. Always check the official MCC portal for exact dates.

Confirm your NEET PG score, rank, and category. Verify that your internship is completed and your MCI/NMC/State Medical Council registration is active.
Visit mcc.nic.in during the registration window. Enter your NEET PG Roll Number, date of birth, and personal details. Pay the non-refundable registration fee (Government seat: ₹1,000 approx; Private seat: ₹5,000 approx).
Upload scanned copies of all required documents. Ensure all documents are valid, legible, and correctly formatted before submission.
Search and shortlist MD/MS specialisations and colleges. Arrange them in your preferred order. This is the most critical step — strategy matters. Lock your choices before the deadline.
MCC publishes the seat allotment result online. Log in to check your allotted college and course. Carefully review the allotment before deciding to accept or upgrade.
If satisfied, accept the allotted seat online and pay the security deposit to hold it. Failure to accept within the deadline results in cancellation of allotment.
Visit the allotted college within the reporting window with all original documents. Complete admission formalities, fee payment, and submit required documents at the college.
If you wish to upgrade to a better college or specialisation, participate in Round 2 or Mop-Up. Your previous allotment is cancelled upon accepting a new seat.
